Belgian Homeowners Honored
This week, Verbier traveled to Brussels to promote the destination and kick off the winter season.
APCAV partnered with the evening event on September 25, which was fully booked with 150 attendees. This exclusive event was organized for property owners and attended by key local leaders. On this occasion, our President, Brigitte Borel, highlighted the significant role the Belgian community has played in the development of Verbier. Belgians were among the first to recognize the potential of our region and began settling here as early as the 1950s. They contributed to local real estate development and helped make Verbier one of the most renowned resorts in Europe. They also played a key role in Verbier’s economic growth and in promoting the area, attracting a wealthy and international clientele.
Mrs. Borel went on to mention the many commonalities shared between Belgians and Swiss, such as multilingualism, a culture of compromise, the stability and prosperity our two countries offer, and, of course, a passion for fine chocolate. She spoke of the close ties and deep friendships that unite many Belgian families with their mountain guides in Verbier and the surrounding area. Lastly, she thanked the many Belgian members of APCAV, often loyal for many years, and invited property owners who have not yet joined to become members.
The next day, during a ceremony held at City Hall in the presence of numerous officials, a Verbier ski outfit was presented and then worn by the Manneken Pis. This marks his 1,158th costume, which will later be displayed in the Manneken Pis Costume Museum.
