State of UK/Switzerland relationship in the Brexit chaos: a practical approach
As the United Kingdom is about to see a new Prime Minister taking office and the outlines of how it will leave the European Union are still not sketched, the fateful date of October 31, 2019 is fast approaching.
In this context, Switzerland is preparing the ground for the post-Brexit era. Agreements have been signed between the two countries; they cover citizens’ rights, trade, insurance, road transport and air traffic topics. These agreements provide for a transitional regime and the consequences of leaving the EU in a ‘no deal’ scenario.
Through my presentation, I will address broadly the topics covered by the agreements concluded between Switzerland and the United Kingdom and their practical consequences (residency, employment) for nationals of both countries.
